The movie 12 Monkeys had a lot going on! There was a time machine, dreams that become the future, action, suspense, A LOT. Overall, I really enjoyed the film. It got repetitive after a bit with the same dream happening every 10 minutes but I thought of it to be really interesting and fun.
I specifically wanted to discuss the time loop portion of the movie, specifically the end. *Spoilers*
So the main character, Cole, is sent back and forth from the past (WW1 I believe) , present (1990), and future (1996). When he is being thrown across different time zones, he starts to become disoriented and doesn’t what what is real and what is not. But, these scientists from the future are sending him to all of these places so all of the small things can fall into place. Small things as in the bullet he got in WW1 so Kathryn believes Cole. All of these actions are saving the future and not the past.
The entire movie goes into an infinite loop because what happens need to happen whether everyone knows it or not. The events have a domino effect making so nothing can change and all events lead up to each other.
