Her (2013)

Her is a FANTASTIC movie. This is one of those movies where it is crazy to see how close, but yet so far, our society is to. Falling in love with an AI is a very interesting because you know they are not real, but they feel so real. Humans have relationships to people they have only met over the internet, so how is this movie any different than that? In the future it may be very hard to determine who is real and who is an AI, which is crazy to think about.

This was my second time watching this movie, and I still had the same emotions as I did the first time I watched it. I was very confused in the beginning on how he could fall in love with the AI, but if the AI knows you and knows what you like, then why not? I, personally, think that dating someone you have never met is kind of weird and unsafe, but if you have a connection, then you have a connection.

It was also nice how the main characters friends were very open about it and how they encouraged it. Even after everything he’s been through, and about to go through, they were still there for him.

  1. Glad you enjoyed this one. I agree it is a very thought provoking and cool film. Even just aesthetically, very well done. I imagine as a tech person (as I was, or maybe still am?), you had some particular perspectives on this human-computer relationship and the potentials of A.I. in the future…
