Idea for a Sci-Fi book or film

Beginning:

Introduced to a character named Miles. Miles is a 3rd year college student majoring in communications and marketing. He has a pretty bland life: no girlfriend, no pets, no roommate, a few friends here and there, and works at a local Wendy’s as an everyday job.

Miles has a Dream:

One night Miles has a nightmare. In this nightmare he sees a small droid outside his window looking at him. The droid is no taller than three feet, is green and purple, and has a body shaped like a giant Rumba. Miles gets out of his bed (all happening in his dream), and he looks at the droid through the window. We then hear the droid say “Abiit nemine salutato” in a very motorized voice. Frighted by what Miles saw and heard in his dream, he wakes up and looks out to where the droid would have been, but nothing is there.

Middle:

The next few nights, Miles has the same dream over and over. Unable to get the same phrase “abiit nemine salutato” out of his head, he starts to research what it means. Later he finds out that the phrase means: “He went away without bidding anyone farewell” in Latin. This did not put Miles mind at ease, he starts struggling in school, and even starts to miss work. His friends recommend him to go see a dream therapist to see if someone could analyze his dream.

Dr. Young Dreams:

The dream therapists name was Dr. Young. He has been studying dreams for 15 years and has helped a lot of people throughout those years. What a lot of his patients don’t know is that Dr. Young also struggles with weird dreams and is constantly woken up in fear. A specific dream he a lot of times is one about an robot who stands above him in his bed. The robot has its feet on either side of Dr. Young while laying in his bed, and it repeats one phrase over and over until he awakes: “Aegri somnia vana.” Now since Dr. Young has been having this nightmare for awhile, he has learned that it means, in Latin, “A sick man’s delusive dreams.”

The meeting and more:

Dr. Young and Miles meet for the first time at his therapist office. They both learn that they are having similar dreams and are very confused on why it is happening. Dr. Young reaches out to other dream doctors in the area and those doctors say that they have been having similar dreams, or they have patients who have similar dreams. The patients and doctors who are having these weird dreams get together to think of what could be happening. Many think that it is just a coincidence, but all of their dreams has some sort of advanced technology in it, and it speaks weird Latin phrases. Over a course of a year they come to no conclusions and nothing happens, but the dreams keep happening.

Climax:

Miles and Dr. Young are still getting together throughout the year and are still determined on how to find a solution for their dreams. Everything was quite repetitive until one night both Miles and Dr. Young dreams change to the same dream. In this dream they both are on a rooftop (not together though). They look around the roof but do not see anything, but they hear screaming and a repeating sentence in the streets below. They look down and see all those different advanced technologies that were talked about in their larger group and a bunch of humans running away and crying in pain. The AI’s are saying: “Consummatum est, it is completed, consummatum est, it is completed…” over and over again.

I don’t know where this story is going but let’s do this (aka ending):

So Dr. Young and Miles are having this weird dream, but it only happens once. Not only do they see this dream once, but the rest of their weird dreams have stopped. Not knowing what this means, they start to freak out a little, thinking that something wrong is going to happen soon. A few days later, Dr. Young and Miles meet again. They do their usual investigating, analyzing, and such but no conclusions are created and they start to walk out of Dr. Young’s office. As they are walking out they hear screaming coming from outside. They walk to the door and see people all bloody running from someone, or something. They both run to the rooftop to get a better look, and they see what they have seen before. AI’s repeating a phrase: “Consummatum est, it is completed, consummatum est, it is completed…”

The end/analysis:

This idea hits a lot of different scientific ideas, especially psychology and AI’s. There is no background on how these AI’s were created, how they got there, or even what they wanted since this is a short story. If this was ever turned into a book or movie, I would think they would give more context clues on to why everything was happening. Also, I know this short story isn’t just Sci-Fi but I wanted to combine my two favorite genres into one: Sci-Fi/psychological thrillers.
